Executive Director Donna Holden brings more than 30 years of senior living industry experience to her role at Discovery Commons. Prior to joining our team, Donna held multiple leadership positions within the Brookdale organization, including Director of Resident Services and Assisted Living Director for a sizeable Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Bradenton, Florida.

She has been CORE certified for more than 15 years in addition to receiving a vast amount of supplemental, healthcare training throughout her career. However, it’s her genuine compassion and commitment to residents and team members that form a foundation for her leadership within our community.

Outside of work, Donna and her husband, Joe, make their home in Fort Myers, and enjoy plenty of family time with their two daughters, who live nearby.

Senior Lifestyle Counselor Nichole Hall began her senior living career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) more than 8 years ago, a point in time where she developed her real passion for helping seniors. Nichole nurtures that experience, skill, and passion today while meeting with families who are considering the next step in their journey into Assisted Living or Memory Care, or even our short-term Respite Care option. Calling Indiana home with a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University, she moved to Florida in 2017 and is now loving the sunshine state. In her spare time, Nichole enjoys exploring the mangroves in her nearby, small town, Matlacha, and every now and then catching a few fish.

Michelle Benz DHW

Michelle Benz

Director of Health and Wellness

Director of Health and Wellness Michelle Benz has been a professional and caring nurse for more than 27 years. She began her career specializing in pediatrics in which her abilities to remain calm, focused, and provide never-ending patience truly came in hand. Moving on from pediatrics, Michelle has specialized in geriatric and dementia care for more than 17 years. Her approach to nursing is to treat the whole resident and not just the current concern. She does this by spending time with each resident to get to know them better. This allows for insight on the best way to approach not only the resident but the other, potential problem areas as well. Originally from a small town in Southern New Jersey, in 2005 Michelle and her family moved to the east coast of Florida before settling near the Gulf Coast in Fort Myers back in 2010. Michelle is recently married with two children, five grandchildren, and their teddy bear puppy, Finn.
