Intergenerational Spring Themed Craft Ideas

|

Spring is in the air - which means there is so much to get excited about. Blooming flowers and beautiful weather are just two of the many reasons why spring makes us feel so refreshed and rejuvenated. There is a lot of artistic inspiration to draw from the vibrant colors and new cycles of life the spring season brings. The beautiful thing about arts and crafts is that it is a bonding experience that can be appreciated and understood by people of all ages. We have compiled a list of spring-themed crafts you can enjoy with your friends and loved ones.

Spring Wreath

A spring wreath is a simple and fun project that can also be used as spring decorations in your home or apartment. Begin by purchasing a plain wreath, which you can find at your local dollar store, craft store, or really almost anywhere. The next step is when you can incorporate your creativity. Gather silk flowers, ribbon, toy eggs and rabbits, and anything else you want to decorate your wreath with. It's up to you how decorative you want it to be! Once completed, the wreath can be hung on a wall or door, or even given as a gift! The best part is that you can reuse it next spring.

Picture Frame

Decorating a picture frame is another easy yet meaningful spring project. Simply find a plain frame that is wide enough for painting and adding decorations. Then, get paint, glitter, flowers, and anything else you wish to put on your picture frame. Before you use paint be sure to put down newspaper or something to help pick up the mess when you are done and prevent spills! The final step is to allow the frame to dry and select your favorite picture to put within it.

Mason Jar Vase

Create your own mason jar vase to spruce up your living space with spring flowers. You can find a mason jar at any local store. You will also need paint and paintbrushes to design your jar. You can paint your mason jar one color or if you are feeling extra crafty - paint a design! To nail a rustic finish, use a pastel chalk paint and sand the finished jar for that vintage look. Once complete, you can fill your new spring-themed jar with any flowers of your choosing (real or fake)!

Decorate Easter Eggs

We just couldn't leave this favored Easter tradition off the list! Coloring Easter Eggs is a splendid activity that can be enjoyed across generations! You will need hard-boiled eggs, water, a container, and egg dye. Many stores offer complete Easter Egg decoration kits, so you can grab all the tools you need in one place!

We hope our spring craft ideas stir inspiration for you to get creative, enjoy the warming weather, and spend time with friends and family. This Spring at Discovery Commons is sure to be a blossoming one! Our full-time activities director ensures there is always something going on.
